Ideal for the winter months but it's a lot of soup okay
This recipe is for like. 6 litres of soup. Use big pan and make this when you’re really fucking hungry/have a fuckton of guests/have enough space in your freezer
500 g split peas
400 g ham slice WITH bone
Smoked sausage - however much you like
150 g celeriac
100 g carrot
100 g potato
Half a leek
Bouillon cubes
Water
A TIP FROM STICK! "Keep it cold, and if it becomes stiff as hell that’s a GOOD thing, in my opinion it tastes even better after a day"
1. Add 15 dl of water, 2 bouillon cubes, the ham slice and all the split peas to a big ol’ pan (my mom uses a pressure cooker but a normal big pan works too)
2. Bring to a boil and wait till the ham slice and split peas are done
3. While that is cooking, cut the celeriac, carrots, and potato into cubes of about 5mm by 5mm (0.2 inches), if they’re all roughly the same size it’s all good
4. Cut the leek into bits too idc how big you can make your mind up about that yourself
5. Now that that ham slice is all cooked you take the entire thing out, and cut up the meat into bite sized bits. You take off the fat and cut that up into even tinier bits so so tiny no even tinier. The bone you can toss now
6. While you’re doing that, add ANOTHER 15 dl of water to the pan and bring that to a boil
7. When it’s boiling again add the celeriac, carrot, and potato. Taste the broth and add another half or whole bouillon cube if you feel it needs it
8. When it’s boiling AGAIN add the leek and the ham WITH the fat too
9. While that’s boiling again you can cut up the smoked sausage too, again idc how small it’s whatever
10. Boil some more and taste the veggies, if they’re all cooked you add the smoked sausage
11. Hold my hand. When it boils AGAIN it is FINISHED you DID IT
Serve in bowls and add some mustard if you want to for taste yummy
